Fuel quality validation

How we prove the gas is safe to cook with

Every batch of LPG refined from recycled plastic at the Katanga micro-refinery is tested for composition, sulfur, calorific value, odorisation and burner performance before it reaches a household kitchen.

The test panel

Six checks on every production batch

Internal QA runs on every batch produced. Independent third party verification with a Ugandan fuels lab is scoped and will be published with the next investor pack.

Last verified: May 2026 (internal lab characterisation)

Composition (propane / butane)

Gas chromatography on every production batch confirms the propane to butane ratio meets cooking-grade LPG specification.

Calorific value

Bomb calorimetry measures heat output per litre and per kilogram to confirm cooking energy delivered to households.

Sulfur content

Ultra low sulfur target verified through routine elemental analysis to keep indoor air clean and protect burner components.

Burner performance

Controlled burner-bench tests measure flame stability, ignition time, soot and CO emissions against a standard reference LPG sample.

Odorant and leak detection

Ethyl mercaptan dosing is verified on every cylinder fill so households can detect leaks at safe concentrations.

Batch traceability

Every cylinder is tagged to a production batch, feedstock source, test results and refill date for full recall traceability.

Validation status

Internal today, independent next

  • Internal lab characterisation against IEA and UNEP reference benchmarks for cooking LPG.
  • Independent third party fuels lab review scoped with a Ugandan partner. Engagement letter signed, sample submission in progress.
  • Cylinder safety inspections aligned with national LPG handling guidance.
  • Household burner trials documented across the Katanga pilot cohort.
